Saving our Constitutional Republic – A Review of Federalist Paper #11

A “Strong Navy!” That’s what Alexander Hamilton argues for in Federalist #11. He reasons that a strong Navy is essential for defense of American commerce. By pooling its resources as one nation, America can resist the predatory behavior of hostile maritime powers.

This argument was especially potent for his New York audience because of the state’s financial interest in maritime commerce.
